Our Team

  • Joshua - Founder/Director

As the founder of Apollo Music Academy, Josh’s passion for music education is unquestionable. Learning music since he was 7 years old and teaching music since 2010 in Geelong, Melbourne and the NT, he dedicates himself to nurturing his students' knowledge, understanding and enthusiasm for music.

Being the Music Captain of Geelong College, achieving a Bachelor of Applied Music (Composition) and a Masters of Teaching (Primary), Josh tailors his lessons to provide opportunities for his students that he himself wished he had growing up.

Since 2019, and during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Josh has been teaching music in the local community of Leopold, and currently has almost 300 students partaking in the Apollo Music Academy program.

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” - Victor Hugo

  • Oscar - Teacher/Coordinator

Meet Oscar, our dynamic music mentor whose journey began at the age of 7 when he discovered the trumpet. By 11, he had already delved into the world of piano, soon expanding his musical repertoire to include guitar and vocals.

Throughout high school, Oscar graced the stage in various musical productions and performances. In 2017, he embarked on formal music studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, honing his skills before pursuing a degree in Psychology at Deakin University.

Oscar's unique blend of formal music training and knowledge in psychology makes him a standout choice for music education. His understanding of human behavior and cognition, combined with his passion for music, allows him to connect with students on a deeper level, fostering an environment where creativity thrives.

  • Brodie - Teacher

Music has been a part of Brodie's life for as long as he can remember, featuring in some of the best moments of his life. From childhood classical piano lessons, to playing guitar of all styles in his VCE music band, Brodie has developed a passion for all types of music. A core quality of Brodie's is patience, and a main goal is for lessons and practice to be fun and inspiring.

On teaching, Brodie says: "The reason I teach music is to hopefully inspire the life-long love of music that I've had in my life. Music has meant so much to me over the years, and the idea that I could spark that in someone else is something magical to me."

  • Mark - Music Tutor

Mark Donaldson (primary instrument keyboard/piano, supplementary drums, vocals, guitar) has been working professionally as a musician, recording engineer/producer and teacher for over forty years, first qualifying as a keyboard teacher for the Yamaha Music Foundation at the age of fifteen.

Believing in a rounded, individually tailored approach to learning music, Mark’s students are given classical technique, notation and theory based training alongside ear-based, creative contemporary knowledge and skills, allowing each student’s particular blend of strengths to shine and develop as they progress.
